About Us
The mission of the Dean of Students Office, a department within the Division of Student Affairs, is to educate individual students and to support the larger Duke community through a diverse array of programs and services. We advise select student organizations and mentor individual students in their development of leadership skills, moral reasoning abilities, and social intelligence. We also respond to student crises and provide information and referrals for students, faculty and staff on a variety of student-related issues. To this end, we offer the following:
- Orientation and transition programming services and programming for parents and families
- Dean-On-Call crisis response system
- Greek community advising
- Coordination of undergraduate disciplinary system and promotion of the Duke Community Standard
- Mediation and conflict resolution services
- Coordination of Duke’s campus-community coalition to prevent alcohol-related consequences
- Off-campus housing resources
- Support for emerging projects that enhance the educational and service missions of the Division of Student Affairs and Duke University
